Birmingham based company ACE dance and music headed by influential Artistic Directors Gail and Ian Parmel is to debut this month (Mon 22 May 2017 and now SOLD OUT) at Walsall’s superb A3 Arena, one of the West Midlands newest contemporary dance venues, as part of Black Country Dance Hub’s ‘Experience Dance’ project, for a single performance of their acclaimed full-length epic dance production, TEN.
UPDATE – The date at Wallsall’s A3 ARENA has now SOLD OUT. If you missed out there, you may consider seeing it instead at WARWICK ARTS CENTRE on Wedneday 24 May 2017
With Choreographyby Jose Agudo and inspired by global migration, TEN is centred around the relationship between two brothers.
TEN explores the concepts of moving away, looking at how and why people choose unimagined destinies over the lives they’d always thought they’d live.
Full of intense physical power and very human fragility.
Combining contemporary dance with an essence of Flamenco, Kathak and ACE’s inimitable Afro-fusion style, TEN is a visceral and exhilarating dance production. Music composition by Giuliano Modarelli will layer a haunting guitar melody onto these stories combined with a powerful and dynamic soundscape created in collaboration with Beautiful Noise (Vincenzo Lamagna).
Jose Agudo the Choreographer of the full length piece explains, “I am interested in exploring the concepts of moving away and leaving, of surviving in a land without a place to go. Of looking at how and why people choose previously unimagined destinies over the lives they’d always thought they’d live… and how power can reflect the fragility of the human being.”
The cast of TEN are: Clara Baldwin, Nathan Dorian Bartman, Vanessa Guevara, Tom Tindall, Sophia Priedel, Christopher Radford, Iona White, Laura Perrot
TEN, currently on tour, comes to A3 Arena in Walsall for one performance on Monday 22 May. THIS IS NOW SOLD OUT
The production in Walsall is supported and made possible by, Young Promoters from Leamore Primary School, Walsall, Streetly Academy, Forest Arts, Black Country Touring and The Black Country Dance Hub
